He's probably the 3rd best qb UT's ever had. Casey would do things (picks) that would drive you crazy, but I loved him. He never lost at UF, never lost at Bama, I think his only road loss was one to UGA and he was hurt in that game. I never saw him lacking confidence or swagger either. He was a fist pumper, and he'd get jacked up during games, I never saw it as arrogance though.

Casey's freshman year in 2000 when he played against Bama is when I gained a ton of respect for him. He had a big DT around his ankle and a DE or LB came rushing around the end and tore his helmet off...........Did he go down, NO, he eluded the DT around his ankles and took off what seemed like 15 yards down field but really was more like 2 and lowered his shoulders and took on an Alabama defender helmet-less. From that point on I loved Clausen and had the utmost respect for him. God that was a great game and I was in attendance. Sure there were games I wanted to choke him but that is with any QB.

He is easily in the Top 5 QB's in UT history.

To me he just seemed lost alot of the times. My friends and I got some tickets in the student section in a game against Georgia(it was the night game on ESPN, not sure what year but it was the game Cedric Houston fumbled right before halftime). That game just sticks out in my mind. He was sulking and slouching, just poor body language. I was also at that monsoon when Grossman and the Gators came to Knoxville and beat them, the game Casey couldn't even take a snap. Like I said he just looked lost to me alot of the times. He never seemed to me like a QB that walks into the huddle or locker room and just commands respect, or a QB that the whole team knew when the game was on the line he would deliver. That is the type of swagger and confidence I want and look for in a QB. No doubt he had alot of heart and fire in him though, and statistically he was very good.

And those guys are morons. Clausen came in and performed from day 1. It wasn't always the prettiest, but he got it done, and done it well. Had he had Jimmy's arm, he would have been a bigger prospect for the NFL. He by far had the best head on his shoulders of the Clausen clan.

Started to holler at you the other day when you was running around Food City.

Crompton didn't play badly for UT last year...and they couldn't really blame him for the outcome of their season either. His WRs were pitiful for the first half of the year. Most UT fans that wanted to blame him for anything last year just had a hard time forgetting the previous year. But last year he wasn't bad.

Yeah, the WR core got off to a bad start due to injuries, and once they got healthy and got their timing down, Crompton played well. Still most of the things in the UCLA game were Crompton's fault on the INTs though.

And missing a wide open Cooper in the end zone from 5 yards out. He was horrid for the first few games, but at times the WR's weren't much help. Overall he had a good season last year and I'm happy he did.

Re: when did Jonathan Crompton become a 2nd round pick?

In the Auburn game WR drops probably cost UT the game...Han**** especially..at least I think that was the one. He got hit in the helmet, chest, and hands and couldn't do anything with it..and it cost UT a score right before the half.

Re: when did Jonathan Crompton become a 2nd round pick?

Some of those drops were later said to be the fault of Crompton. One of those passes to Han**** was supposed to be a quick hitter, one receiver route, where the other receivers start to block (kind of a screen but not an actual screen). That's the one that bounced off of Han****'s face.
